Best Places To Travel This December!

Updated: Dec 14, 2022

I absolutely love traveling during the holidays, but I don't like to go to all the typical over populated tourist destinations.

The main reason people travel during the holiday season is to get away from all of the hustle and bustle of their home town. What confuses me is why people go to all of the main winter tourist traps. There are a lot of places that people think of right off the bat when it comes to winter travel. These 'First thought' places get packed during the winter and they always jack up their prices. I am here to tell you the top 5 places to go this winter that won't double their prices for the winter months, won't be packed with hundreds of other tourists and most of all won't be covered in snow.

Without further ado, lets get into the top 5 places to travel this winter!

Morocco -

When I leave the states for Christmas I am always looking for somewhere warm to go. If you go to Morocco this winter you can look forward to 70 degree days. There are a lot of reasons to go to northern Africa this December. For example there are tons of activities to do without the higher tourist prices and crazy foot traffic. When planning your visit here, be sure to bring your apatite! There are so many local taverns in town that you have to visit when exploring the city. If its not obvious enough, visiting Casablanca has to be high on your priority list! Also during this time of year you have a clear view of the Atlas Mountains against the clear blue sky. On top of all of these things, you can stay at the most luxurious resorts for Cheap!

Uruguay -

Moving to South America, we enter Uruguay for more warm weather and very little tourist traffic. With 80 degree days and low humidity you will want to spend all of your days exploring this beautiful place! The first thing you want to book is a vineyard tour. Uruguay makes their own incredible wine and you are going to want to try them all. The easiest way to do this is visit a vineyard for a day of wine tasting.

Out of the green and into the blue with whale watching. Although this season usually ends around November, its been said you can still see whales from the coast in December. If you want an even better view you have to visit historic Colonia Del Sacramento lighthouse. You can see the entire city from the top.

Portugal -

If you aren't a fan of wine tasting in Uruguay, try a craft beer tasting in Portugal! Like everywhere else listed here, Portugal has fewer crowds and lower prices during December, making it another great place to talk about going this winter. This creates a fantastic time to explore the countryside and get amazing pictures without dozens of tourists in your photos. If you are anything like me, you want to be on a beach during your vacation. Lucky for you Portugal is framed with some of Europe's finest beaches including Dona Ana beach, Falesia Beach, and Benagil Caves Secret beach.

Bangkok -

To start off, Bangkok is one of the top locations on my 2023-2024 travel bucket list. Here is why. Number one, Dreamworld. Now this may not be In Bangkok but it's very close! If you like amusement parks and amazing live shows, you have to spend a day here. For those of you that would like to be a little bit more lowkey and relaxing, I highly recommend the Saraburi Sunflower fields open between November and January. This is one of the largest and most beautiful sunflower fields in the world. If this is more up your alley, then I also recommend Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park. With camping, hotels, hiking, lakes, caves, beaches and restaurants, there are so many things to do and incredible wildlife to see!

Italy -

Everyone loves the idea of Italy for the beautiful architecture, stunning views and lets face it, the food. Not many people think to go in December but I would strongly recommend keeping it in mind. Most people want to go to Italy in the summer or spring but it is always so busy. Like other places during the high tourist season, they jack up all of their prices to get the most out of you. In December there are fewer crowds and cheaper prices. Though it might not be the warmest place to visit in December, Italy goes all out with the holiday festivities!
